REVIEW & CRITICISM OF FOOTPRINT5’S DEBUT SINGLE “MIGHTY TO SAVE” BY RKXL

Mighty To Save by FootPrint5
Summary: A brilliant effort from FootPrint5. Though the production is plagued by inaudible vocals and is unfortunately all but overwhelmed by instruments when all it really needs is good vocals.

FootPrint5 is a Nigerian Alternative Christian rock band formed in 2012 by keyboardist Philip Sylvester and drummer Clement Ehizokhale. FootPrint5 is out with a single ‘Mighty To Save’ which is a cover of the original song by Hillsong United. They are a band with a ministry of Awakening people’s consciousness of reigning with Christ and taking His gospel of the Kingdom to the nations of the earth and they clearly love doing just that with their songs.

The Footprint5 band was formed as a movement whose focus is to equip a generation, to be influences of the society and to create an awareness of God’s love through worship. With the ‘5’ representing a symbolic number for God’s Grace, Each member of the team knows the weight of the call God on their lives, hoping that their music can be a great tool for reaching out to those burning and seeking an encounter in God’s presence. Four members of Footprint5 currently serve at House On The Rock metropolitan church as Music ministers. Mighty To Save is a song whose theme is summed up in one verse from the bible, “The Lord your God is
with you, He is mighty to save”, Zephaniah 3:17. The song does more than connect with you, it draws you in and sucks you into a passionate worship experience. The singing is good, though there are some soft spots. But Christian music can’t be judged by melodic sound alone, however. The focus has to be on the lyrics, because the lyrics are what set Christian music apart from any other genre. This song is centred on God and it is committed to him. This song is perfect for those who want to have real experience with God. With this song we can expect  more from their EP ‘Closed Door Open Exits’ which is due for release soon. We hope to get a release date soon.
This band is influenced by bands like Switchfoot, Building 429, Safetysuit…
