The “Usual Suspects” show IS TODAY!!!

There’s a rock show going down tonight over there in South Africa. It’s called ‘The Usual Suspects” and it’s in association with The Unscene and Gandalf’s. It’s going to feature some of Cape Town’s best live heavy metal, alternative, and indie bands.

Hosted by Matthew Cox from the SA band Thread of  Omen, a good friend of AudioInferno.

Matthew Cox from Thread of Omen

Here’s what he had to say:

So I’m hosting a gig on Saturday 15 August at Gandalf’s/ROAR in Observatory, Cape Town. It features some of the best LIVE heavy metal, alternative, and indie Cape Town has to offer.

The original intention of the gig was to celebrate my departure from the band Firepool (local progressive rock band), I was one of the founding members and played in the band for about a year and a half. Coincidentally, the 15th of August also happens to be the 1 year anniversary of Firepool.

Unfortunately, I will no longer be performing with Firepool on this night as they faced several difficulties due to me no longer being in the band. They will however be debuting their new bassist.

The night kicks off early with The Insomniac Diaries (alternative) and then over to The Dodgy Odds for some funk rock n roll vibes. Firepool takes the stage 3rd, followed by progressive metal band Fuera.

Fuera are a key act in the transition between the rock and metal segments of the event.

Thread of Omen are up next and we guarantee to get those heads banging and the pits moving. We’ll be performing with Jonathan from A Price on the King’s Head as our drummer, as our current drummer Steyn is unable to play this show. We’re very appreciative of what Jono is doing for the band, and we’re definitely privileged to have someone like him ready as a backup drummer any time we need him. He’s an incredible drummer.

Thread of Omen will be followed by With Dawn, a band that will do nothing other than keep the positive energy flowing.

After With Dawn is Nebula Disrupt, who will be bringing some atmospheric, progressive black metal sounds to the stage. I’m currently sessioning for this band as a bassist and it’s been a very unique experience for me performing such a different style of metal than I am used to.

Following Nebula Disrupt is Rukuz, the guest band of the evening who will close the night. Rukuz classify themselves as ‘Hobo Metal’, with a strong groove metal influence, Rukuz will end the night off with a bang.

I’ve been looking forward to this event for months, and it’s finally here. all the bands are excited, and the public’s response has been good. I’m extremely nervous to see how tonight goes down, but in the end, we’re all in it for some good music, good people, and positive vibes – which is definitely what we’ll get.

You DO NOT have my permission to utilize any of my profile information nor any of the content contained here \m/{*¿*}\m/ ...THERE...OK. I'm a huge Melodeath metal fan. I'm proud to be a METALHEAD. Metal isn't for everybody, it's for the chosen few. Most friends I have tell me they don't understand why I like metal, that it is too much noise. They just going to have to listen beyond the noise and the truth is they don't have to figure it out, it is either in you or it isn't. Metal is my morning coffee and it's my night sleeping pills...
