Introducing Egyptian alternative band Shutterglass

Shutterglass in action

Hi everyone!

Today, I’m going to shine the “light” on a band from Egypt that has become very dear to me over the last couple of weeks. I’d like you to officially meet Shutterglass (standing ovation everyone).

Honestly, I think at this point YouTube is tired of me. Anyway, I saw the above cover of Viva La Vida (Coldplay) by Shutterglass and I simply had to check them out. The first thing that struck me about the band was that they had a female vocalist (Oh Yeah, Female Lead ALERT). I absolutely needed to know who she was and after days of hunting, I finally stumbled on their Soundcloud account.

The Band

The band has such an amazing alternative rock sound and I’m quite surprised the world isn’t buzzing about them already. An alternative rock band from Cairo, Egypt the band formed in the summer of 2012. The band consists of members Yehya Radwan (Bassist) and Youssef Harraz (Guitarist/keyboardist) with Mariam Nouhy (vocalist who is now my new crush) who joined the band later that year, Ahmed Mosaad (Guitarist) came on board in 2014 and Ali Labeeb (Drummer) in 2015.

According to their Soundcloud page, their first EP titled “A Call for Life” is being recorded and would be released soon. (I’m so pumped)

As always, I’d end this with a recommendation. (Drumroll please). Okay guys, of all the songs by the band that I have heard it’s absolutely important for anyone who reads this introduction to listen to Sleepwalk by Shutterglass. I can assure you, it’s absolutely worth it. At the rate I’m going, I think it’s safe to say that I’m falling in love with Egyptian bands. Oh well, it’s safe to say this “rant” is officially done. Or is it? Expect more from Shutterglass here on AudioInferno in the coming weeks.

Till next time people. Remember to support your local bands and rock on \m/
