Sunset Sweatshop Makes A Steamy Entrance With Their Debut single ‘Move It’

 Sunset Sweatshop

There’s a new kaleidoscope of creative criminals in town. The “Sunset Sweatshop” won’t only steal your ears but also your ability to stay still with their unique combination of killer keys, guitar coma-tomic riffs and bass and drums. These guys will get those dusty hips shaking again with their ‘bringing-sexy-back’ sound.

Sunset Sweatshop is a five-piece indie, goema, reggae and even boeremusiek and marabi infused outfit all hailing from the northern suburbs of Cape Town and was formed in October 2016.

These new kids on the block are hitting the local scene up with their début single ‘Move It’.

‘Move It’ is the kind of track that reminds us why the world fell in love with SA music legends from the eighties such as Bright Blue, Tananas and éVoid in a time when music was the vehicle used to bring about change and the rebirth of a nation. Sunset Sweatshop possesses the kind of sound that makes you proud to be part of a place so rich and plentiful in musical culture.

Each member of Sunset Sweatshop consisting of Ian Heyns (Lead Vocals and Acoustic Guitar), Rossouw Wentzel (Lead & Rhythm Guitar), Victor Green (Drums), Nick Forbes (Keys and Guitar) and Richard Dicks (Bass Guitar), is equally talented in their instrument of choice. Everyone is constantly busy eating, breathing and living the magic that is music and letting it bleed through their fingers to create a sound and feel that is synonymous with the vibrant tastes and flavors of South Africa.

All the members have been active in the music scene, except for Ian (frontman) who is making his onstage début, following years of operating behind the scenes as an exceptional songwriter. It’s certainly not an easy effort for those wishing to classify, label and box the group’s sound. They feed off a wide spectrum of influences and at the end of the day they have been able to create something with real authentic artistic flair.

The music created by this tenacious troupe has true grit, meaningful lyrics, and  ‘move-it’ melodies; so catchy you’ll be humming it non-stop.

Their history is still to be written but this will be a book worth reading as they continue to roll with the punches and produce awesome tunes. Sit tight and enjoy this melodious ride!

Sunset Sweatshop is one of those bands you simply have to go see live. Catch a preview of the magic at their upcoming gigs in Cape Town.

Name is Austin, peeps call me Austinrock. I like to interact with bands. You DO NOT have my permission to utilize any of my profile information nor any of the content contained here \m/{*¿*}\m/ …THERE…OK. I’m a huge Melodeath metal fan. I’m proud to be a METALHEAD. Metal isn’t for everybody, it’s for the chosen few. Most friends I have tell me they don’t understand why I like metal, that it is too much noise. They just going to have to listen beyond the noise and the truth is they don’t have to figure it out, it is either in you or it isn’t. Metal is my morning coffee and it’s my night sleeping pills…
