[PRESS RELEASE] Introducing the eclectic sounds of ‘Atom Band’

Atom Band fully formed in 2014 and are a multi-cultural 5 piece Indie/Art Rock band based in Johannesburg. Atom Band made their Oppikoppi festival debut on the 7th of August 2015, performing at the James Phillips stage.

The band consists of brothers Vassan (Vocals) and Riaan Nirhoo (Rhythm Guitar), Robert Krause (Lead Guitar), Bernard Burg (Drums) and Ryan Di Domenico (Bass).

Refusing to be pigeonholed or narrowed down to one specific genre, their eclectic sound encompasses a wide variety of influences and genres from late 70’s Post-Punk, Garage Rock and melodic 80’s Indie.

Atom Band strive to break through the South African art rock scene with a unique voice in serious, layered and intellectual song writing. Their unusual, dense, innovative and uniquely atmospheric material also draws influence from literature, film, art, anarchy as well as social, political and economic injustice. Atom Band consists of members from different ethnicities and backgrounds, each contributing to a unique overall sound.

Atom Band’s debut EP “All Liars & Thieves” is available to download/stream on all major online platforms.  Atom Band have also released their official music video to their single ”The Thought Fox” on YouTube.

The EP was produced by David Grevler (Lunatic Wolf, Tailor) at Anti-Motion Studios. Balcony TV also shot a live performance of Atom Band’s their single “The Thought Fox”. “The Thought Fox” was also play listed by Catherine Grenfell on streaming radio station: The Eye.  Atom Band released their follow up EP “Rabbit Season’s a Witch” (also produced at Anti Motion Studios by David Grevler) in March 2017.
